We are amazed at how something like this may have occurred in a country so hospitable. The attacks in Oslo (07/22) have riveted new attention on right-wing extremists across Europe, where opposition to Muslim immigrants, globalization, the power of the European Union and the drive toward multiculturalism has proven a potent political force and, in a few cases, a spur to violence.
The success of populist parties appealing to a sense of lost national identity has brought criticism of minorities, immigrants and in particular Muslims out of the beer halls and Internet chat rooms and into mainstream politics.
The boy who committed such barbarity is not only an ultra-rightist, but rather a unbalance that strikes his fellow with no mercy, so futile and sneaky. How to call this creature a human being?
Oslo is an amazing city and the population is very warm. Unfortunately there are disturbed people everywhere. I share the grief of all.
